What Is Metal Construction and Where Is It Used?

In construction there is a term we hear often, but sometimes people do not clearly understand it — metal construction. Simply speaking, it is the skeleton or frame of a building or structure made from steel or other metals.

What is metal construction made of?
This system is usually made from steel profiles, pipes and metal plates. These parts are connected together by welding or bolts and nuts and create strong and large structures. The reason for its popularity is that the structure is light in weight but has very high load capacity.

Where is it used?
Metal constructions are used in many places and we see them almost every day.

  • Warehouses and hangars:
Fast and affordable solution for storing large amount of products.
  • Shopping centers:
Most modern mall buildings are built with metal frame structures.
  • Bridges and overpasses:
Metal is used where strong resistance to heavy loads and stress is needed.
  • Skyscrapers:
The tallest buildings in the world reach the clouds because of strong steel structures.

Why should we choose metal?
Because metal can resist fire (with special coating), it is not damaged by fungus or insects and most importantly it lasts for many years. If you want both modern design and reliability in your project, metal constructions are a very good choice.
